Kratom Facts!

Its not difficult to be overwhelmed with the buying choices when buying Kratom. But let’s start with why you’re taking it. Kratom has three basic strains, we will call them veins. They simply differentiate the plant by its age. However, for medicinal purposes, the differences will be dramatic.

  • White Kratom – immature plant – this is going to be your daytime usage strain. You get an energy boost and mood enhancement similar to coffee from white strains.
  • Green Kratom – young plant – this is the most widely used strain because you get relaxation and stimulation from the same dose. Green kratom is typically recommended to assist with certain types of anxiety and stress reduction. Green Kratom can even be taken for pain management.
  • Red Kratom – mature plant – excellent for relaxation and sleeping. Red Kratom can give an enlightened sense of well being, so if you experience this be sure to discuss with your herbalist. You CAN become dependent. I would exercise great caution here.

Now that you know the main veins you should also know some manufacturers are harvesting a mid-vein which is yellow, right in between the green and white. Simply younger the green, older than the white, effects a bit stronger or milder depending on how that particular plant is intended to be used.

Growing Regions

The next thing that differentiates Kratom is where it’s grown. It is native to certain regions of Southeast Asia. The primary growing regions for Kratom are:

The three countries of the Island of Borneo (Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei) all produce Kratom!

  • Malaysia (Borneo) – Malay Kratom, as it is known, is grown on the region of the island that is very tropical. It is humid in this area, the soil is acidic and the growing conditions are perfect for Kratom.
  • Indonesia (Borneo) – Indo Kratom is the widely known as the gold standard. The growing season here is characterized by two seasons, a rainy season from Nov to March and a dry season the remainder of the year. The volcanoes on the island produce a rich, highly acidic soil, packed with nutrients.
  • Brunei (Borneo) – produces some of the most desired strains of Kratom. This island is small and very humid, optimal conditions for growing Kratom.
  • Sumatra – Kratom from the Island of Sumatra is known to be particularly strong and long lasting. There are also a diverse number of species of Kratom produced here, likely due to different areas of tropical, humid, and rainy zones.
  • Thailand – Maeng Da, which is Thai Kratom is highly regarded as the best Kratom due to its highly concentrated alkaloids. You’ll need less Maeng Da, to feel the effects.
